Village Readers Get A Special Treat

Esteemed author Elizabeth Letts, the daughter of Palos Verdes Peninsula Village member, Ginger Letts, met with our Village book groups on Wednesday, February 28th at the lovely home of Mary Sheh.

Ms. Letts shared engaging insights and experiences with the Villagers. She grew up riding horses competitively in Rolling Hills. After graduating from Yale University with a major in history, she volunteered for the Peace Corps in Morocco. While parenting four children, she became a teacher, nurse midwife, and ultimately a writer.

Her first non-fiction novel, The Eighty-Dollar Champion: Snowman the Horse that Inspired a Nation was a #1 New York Times bestseller. Her most recent book, The Perfect Horse: The Daring U.S. Mission to Rescue the Priceless Stallions Kidnapped by the Nazis is also a New York Times best seller.

Writing The Perfect Horse required significant research that included visits to families of the World War II veterans who were involved with the incredible horses.

Ms. Letts also has written women’s fiction using the pen name Nora Carroll and has authored an acclaimed children’s book, The Butter Man.
